Established in 2003, the Fisher Society recognizes and honors visionary individuals who have made a commitment to the future of Library of America through their estate plans. The Society is named for Richard B. Fisher (1936–2004)—a leader in investment banking, esteemed philanthropist, and passionate reader—who made the inaugural planned gift.

Planned Gift Opportunities
There are several ways to support Library of America beyond your lifetime with a gift that offers income or tax benefits to you or your loved ones, including:
- A bequest in your will or living trust that will not diminish your current assets
- A designation of LOA as a beneficiary of an IRA, bank account, or donor advised fund
- A gift made now that will pay you annual income for life with the remainder to benefit Library of America
- A gift of property, such as securities or real estate, that will provide you with a significant tax deduction
If your gift is for $75,000 or more, you may direct it to endow a specific Library of America volume and be recognized in the volume in perpetuity as a Guardian of American Letters.
As a Fisher Society member, you will receive recognition in the Library of America annual report, special communications throughout the year, and invitations to the members-only annual Society gatherings.
